Maximize Space in Your Custom Built Home

Building a custom home is a great experience. But sticking within your budget can be difficult. When figuring out how much your new home is going to cost, you usually have to think in terms of square footage. But there are ways to increase your square footage and still save. For example, building up by adding a second story on the house is less expensive than building out, because that’s less area that will need a foundation and roof coverage. I started this blog to help you find ways to get the space that you need in your custom home, without having to spend more than you can afford. Building my custom home was the best money I ever spent, and I’m happy to help you learn how to get the custom home you want.

Building A New Home: How To See The Finished Product Now

Construction & Contractors Blog

When you decide to build a new home, it is exciting to see the floor plans and the blueprints. However, there is not much to go on when you want to see the finished product because your house is not yet built. When you are getting antsy, and you just broke ground last week, here are some ways in which you can see the finished home now and calm your anxious eagerness about seeing it later.

Home Elevations

Home elevations are special drawings that graphic artists do to show you how your home will look based on what the blueprints say. Better still, you can give the artist some ideas on what color your home's exterior will be, whether or not it will have shutters for decoration, what color the shutters will be, and any other pertinent details. The graphic artist can either draw these images to scale or create a three-dimensional representation on a computer, which will allow you to rotate your "home" 360 degrees. It is almost like jumping into the future and taking a walk outside around your house!

Interior Design Pictures

Just as drawings and computer models can show you what your home will look like from outside once it is completed, so can the graphic images made by an interior designer. If you give him or her the dimensions of your rooms, he/she can take each room, recreate it fully, and then decorate it. The results are a stunning walk-through of a home that does not exist, and it is very cool. If you tell the designer what colors each room will be and provide pictures of your furniture, then the designer can also place your furniture and wall colors into the graphic images so that you can see exactly what every room in your future home will look like.

Graphics Software for Virtual Tours

If you really just cannot stand the wait, find a company or consultant that utilizes graphics software to create a complete virtual tour of your non-existent new home. This software is frequently used to create stages for realistic video games but has recently been developed for the purpose of virtual tours of homes and buildings. The company or consultant takes all of the information needed from your blueprints and converts it into a house you can enter with the click of a mouse. You can select an avatar that looks like you, and then your avatar moves and walks through the virtual house so you can see the whole thing.
